Dear Melly, I just caught up with your posts on further Education
and wish you all the luck in the world.
I am 52 years old now and for myself, I don't think work will be an option, because
of Spine troubles and R.A.
But after leaving school with one G.C.S,E. in English language, (I took it at Christmas
and left before the rest), I moved to Plymouth and did my degree in Sociology when
I was 30. I graduated when I was 33. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
Even though I was a single parent whilst studying. I would recommend getting further
education to anybody who would like to learn!
Best wishes,
FionaSmile

Hi Mel,

Sounds like you're enjoying your course and getting on well.

It doesn't matter if the course is free, the college should still be able to assist disabled students with adaptations and support with applications for grants to obtain equipment to help you during your studies.

love,

Barbara

Hi Mel,

Learn Direct is a government led scheme and provides support to disabled students to develop skills and find work. Mel there's no harm in asking about support that you're definitely entitled to

Now I KNOW YOU WILL ALL THINK I AM CRACKERS but I am going to study Forensic Science. Why - you my ask! Well, a close friend who is a solicitor is going to do this course and suggested we could perhaps do it together. I am well aware of my own limitations and she will outshine me by miles, but it should be fun. She's actually first and foremost a friend of Lucy's but since Lucy moved to Chester she's like a second daughter. It should be fun but I am a little frightened!

I can help you with some of the medical details Jean. Hannah's dong medical law at the moment and I've been able to help her.
I would love to do that, I'm very interested in forensic science so if you get stuck I'll help if I can!
Good luck with it.

Go for it Jean, and don't be worried. You'll probably find that you'll do really well and may even outshine your friend. It's been my experience that when people come onto courses with a fresh outlook and perspective to the subject they are the ones that do well, and sometimes do better than their fellow students who may have studied something similar before.

I think it's fantastic subject you have chosen, and would love to join your ladies detective agency when you've completed the courseLOL LOL

Love,

Barbara
